DR. MATTHEW T. KINGSTON OPENS HEALTHY SMILES DENTAL IN WOODS EDGE PLAZA
(144 S. CENTERVILLE ROAD AT COLUMBIA AVENUE), LANCASTER, PA
Focus on dental health and how it affects overall systemic health
LANCASTER, PA - (January 18, 2011) - Dr. Matthew T. Kingston has announced the opening of Healthy Smiles Dental, his new Lancaster dental office offering comprehensive general, cosmetic and restorative dentistry, in the Woods Edge Plaza at 144 S. Centerville Road, offering easy access from route 30. The practice, with a mission that focuses on the relationship between oral and overall systemic health, combines the newest dental technology with advanced patient amenities and comforts, and introduces a menu of client benefits unique to the Lancaster community. Evening, Friday and Saturday appointments are available.
New dental technologies offered at Healthy Smiles Dental include low-dose digital radiography to replace traditional film X-Rays, digital panoramic radiographs, intra-oral cameras that help patients see inside their mouths, quieter and more efficient electric drills, dental iPads to provide treatment details to patients, and a state-of-the-art sterilization center.
"For comfort, we provide our patients with comfortable leather dental chairs, many of which have a built-in back massage," Dr. Kingston stated. "We also have iPods for patients to listen to during treatment; 32 inch LCD TV's in all treatment rooms; and a designated play area for families with young children. To top it off, we even have an independent certified massage therapist on-site who can offer a chair relaxation massage before or after treatment, or even an indulgent, full-body relaxation massage. The therapist is also trained in TMJ-specific massage for those who suffer chronic headaches or pain related to the TMJ," he added.
"Our goal was to create a first-class, relaxed and comfortable patient experience, by incorporating the newest technology, a caring and compassionate team, plus some added special features. In doing so, we can make the typical dental visit more efficient and more comfortable," he said.
Healthy Smiles Dental has also introduced the first dental patient loyalty program in the Lancaster area. The Healthy Smiles Dental Smiles Rewards Program awards smile points with each service, whether or not patients have dental insurance. Clients can "cash in" their smile points on rewards ranging from discounts on teeth whitening to a massage or restaurant gift certificate.
Healthy Smiles Dental has also unveiled a unique "VIP Program," which provides non-insurance patients with a package of discounted services, including twice-annual cleanings.
Dr. Kingston began his dental career in the Philadelphia area after receiving his DMD (Doctor of Dental Medicine) degree with honors from Temple University in 2001. After associating with another dental practice in Lancaster for nearly six years, Dr. Kingston elected to follow his dream of opening his own state-of-the-art office. In doing so, he looks forward to continuing to provide exceptional dental care and customer service and to educating patients about how taking care of their oral health can lead to improved overall health.
"Many people are starting to catch on to the news reports that healthy teeth and gums play an important role in maintaining a healthy heart and reducing the risk for stroke, numerous types of cancer, even Alzheimer's disease," Dr. Kingston observed. "But this is just the beginning of the latest research. For example, during pregnancy women need to pay even greater attention to dental health care. In fact, our team is trained to help educate patients about how keeping their teeth and gums healthy can help promote a longer and healthier life!"
Dr. Kingston has aggressively pursued additional dental education since he began his dental career a decade ago. He has been a certified Invisalign® invisible orthodontics provider since 2003, and has received advanced dental training in endodontics (root canal therapy), cosmetic dentistry (porcelain veneers and cosmetic bonding), advanced restorative training (placement of porcelain crowns and tooth colored fillings), and implant dentistry (including the restoration of implants). He recently completed over 130 hours of coursework and training at the prestigious Scottsdale Center for Dentistry in Arizona, where he had the opportunity to train with some of the most celebrated dental practitioners in the country.
Dr. Kingston is member of a number of dental organizations and study groups dedicated to the advanced study of the multiple disciplines of dentistry, including The American Dental Association, The Academy of General Dentistry, The Pennsylvania Dental Association, The Lancaster Dental Society and The Lancaster County Dental Implant Study Club. . In addition to his DMD degree from Temple, Dr. Kingston holds a B.S. degree with honors from the University of Richmond in Virginia.
For his newly-opened practice, Dr. Kingston selected new dental technologies that would make patient care easier, faster and more comfortable. "One of the most dramatic technological breakthroughs in recent years has been the use of digital radiography in dentistry," Dr. Kingston remarked. "Patients benefit from a significant decrease in the amount of radiation exposure over conventional film X-rays, plus digital imaging offers advanced diagnostic capabilities. We can diagnose more accurately and provide treatment in a more conservative and timely manner," he said.
"Dexis digital images use a comfortable, rounded computerized sensor rather than the older film technology, requiring up to 75-80% less radiation. Images captured on the sensor are immediately displayed on a computer monitor in the treatment room. Digital Panoramic images can be made as well. These also offer a 75-80% reduction in X-ray exposure to traditional Panoramic films. These images also do not require an intra-oral sensor or film to capture a broad view of the entire mouth, head, and neck. These images are excellent for viewing wisdom teeth, evaluation of the TMJ (temporal mandibular joint), and offer a radiographic alternative for patients who have a strong gag reflex. What this means for our patients is that they are exposed to a negligible amount of X-rays, they don't have to wait for the film to develop, and we can provide the most appropriate treatment at the most appropriate time. It's simply better dental care for the patient," Dr. Kingston said.
Healthy Smiles Dental is located in a 4,000-square-foot space at the end of the Wood's Edge Plaza, at the corner of Columbia Ave and Centerville Road, less than one mile from the Centerville Road exit off Route 30. The space, formerly occupied by a hardware store, was built out and equipped to Dr. Kingston's exacting specifications, with restful décor in tones of tans and beiges reminiscent of the Lancaster landscape.
